Calmodulin（CaM，钙调蛋白）是细胞内重要的钙离子感应与调节蛋白。当细胞内Ca²⁺浓度发生变化时，CaM会与钙离子结合并改变结构，再与数百种靶蛋白互动，其中包括多类关键酶、蛋白激酶、磷酸酶、离子通道及转运蛋白。较严谨的科学表达是：CaM参与调控数百种靶蛋白，其中包括多类关键酶，而不是把它简单说成直接激活300多种酶。Calmodulin (CaM) is an important intracellular calcium-sensing and regulatory protein. When Ca²⁺ levels change, CaM binds calcium, changes shape and interacts with hundreds of target proteins, including enzymes, protein kinases, phosphatases, ion channels and transport proteins. A more accurate scientific description is that CaM helps regulate hundreds of target proteins, including many key enzymes, rather than simply stating that it directly activates more than 300 enzymes.

这些酶与功能蛋白受到调节后，可把钙离子讯号转化为具体的细胞反应，参与能量与营养代谢、神经讯号传递、肌肉收缩与活动，以及细胞生长、修复和正常调节。CaM更像细胞内的“讯号协调员”，帮助不同系统在适当时间作出反应。Once regulated, these enzymes and functional proteins convert calcium signals into cellular responses involved in energy and nutrient metabolism, nerve signalling, muscle contraction and movement, and normal cellular growth, repair and regulation. CaM can be understood as a cellular “signal coordinator” that helps different systems respond at the appropriate time.
